In dealing with Freemasonry, the issue is not with Freemasons and their affiliated organizations but with a system of deception placing good people into profound levels of bondage. As mentioned in previous articles, I was brought up in a Christian home by my grandparents. My grandfather was a Mason, and my grandmother was a Worthy Grand Matron in the Eastern Star. Masons from the Church would often come by to plan events for Eastern Star meetings. Through these things, I thought of Freemasonry as a Christian organization, or at least compatible with Christianity. I had never heard anything from the Church to believe otherwise. Later, I would become a member. How is it possible that so many Christian members defend it while other Christians are opposing it? In providing answers, we should remember that most members are good people, like some of our parents and grandparents involved in the Lodge. As former Masonic members, most of us didn’t know we were in bondage until after being set free from bondage.
The Masonic organization is a global secret society composed of an inner and outer structure. The inner leadership dictates what information will be taught to the vast majority in the outer structure. Within North American Freemasonry, there are thirty-three (33) degrees or levels of advancement. The Blue Lodge is the first three degrees to become a Master Mason. More than 75% of all Masons will never proceed beyond these three Blue Lodge degrees. This has been intentionally designed to prevent these Masons from ever learning the inner secrets and the Luciferian doctrines involved in Freemasonry. Freemasonry – Two Organizations explains these inner and outer structures as being two organizations constructed to deceive even higher-level Masons. In this deception, Universal Grand Pontiff of Scottish Rite Masonry, 33rd degree Albert Pike wrote the following in his book, Morals and Dogma, 1871, page 819:
“The Blue Degrees are but the outer court or portico of the Temple. Part of the symbols are displayed there to the initiate, but he is intentionally misled by false interpretations. It is not intended that he shall understand them; but it is intended that he shall imagine he understands them. Their true explication is reserved for the Adepts, the Princes of Masonry.”
On this same page, Pike further extols the virtues of the High Degrees while expanding upon this deception: “…for the mass of those called Masons, …in the Blue Degrees; …will labor in vain, …”
Imagine being a member of an organization that systematically lies to you, except you don’t know this. We did charity work and were taught moral lessons to be a ‘good Mason.’ We went to meetings with well-regarded members of our community, including those from our respective churches. I once defended Freemasonry to other members of my church based on these things. They were telling me it wasn’t a godly organization. Later, I would learn about the growing number of former members in Canada, America, and around the world leaving Freemasonry due to the witness of those who had gained their freedom. Through their witness, I would also choose the same freedom offered to every Mason.
Thirty-third degree Scottish Rite Mason Manly Hall is called Freemasonry’s greatest philosopher. He shares the following from his book The Keys of Freemasonry, 1923, page 48:
“When the Mason learns that the key to the warrior on the block is the proper application of the dynamo of living power, he has learned the mystery of his Craft. The seething energies of Lucifer are in his hands and before he may step onward and upward, he must prove his ability to properly apply energy.”
Luciferian doctrines claim that Lucifer was never cast out of his heavenly abode, that he remains in battle to free mankind from God’s tyranny. Luciferians view him as being good while God is portrayed as the evil one. Luciferians, New Agers, Wicca, and various occult organizations see themselves as promoting good in the world. In this, however, they are manipulated by dark forces with a dark agenda. Freemasonry – Two Organizations explains how Freemasonry has been manipulated by satanic forces within its inner organization. The use of Luciferian doctrines creates a deception more acceptable for many Masons and for those throughout numerous occult organizations, including those mentioned. In this aspect, those Masons and other organizations seeking to integrate the seething energies of Lucifer into their lives have opened themselves to satanic forces of destruction contrary to what they had been deceived into believing.
To more fully explain the significance of these Luciferian doctrines, there are resources by William Schnoebelen, a former high-ranking Luciferian in Parts One and Two of Freemasonry On Trial. These quotes from his book Masonry Beyond The Light are provided with William’s permission. As a member of a witchcraft coven, he was seeking ‘more light,’ the same as all of us in Freemasonry. To acquire more of this enlightenment, his coven elders recommended that he join Freemasonry. With his advanced knowledge and participation in witchcraft, he quickly rose through Freemasonry, well beyond into some of the highest levels of the occult. With his occult expertise, he points out that Freemasonry is the largest witchcraft coven in the world. There came a time, as I learned more about Freemasonry, that I understood I had been a Christian involved in witchcraft.
Dealing with Freemasonry can lead to confrontation, depending on the situation. There is the inner dark reality that very few Masons will ever be aware of. As a result, there are occasions where church splits have happened or where pastors have been fired by Masons in positions like the Board of Directors. In other situations, it may involve making sure a Mason is saved before dealing with Masonic issues in his life and the problems this tends to cause within their families. I often think of John Bishop here in British Columbia, Canada. John was a 32nd-degree Mason attending a weekly Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship luncheon meeting. His Masonic membership was, of course, an issue. When they spoke to John about this, he’d say it was a fraternal organization that did charity work. The same things most Christian Masons believe and will say, as I once did. However, John sincerely loved Jesus, so they continued to welcome him into their fellowship.
As the years passed, John turned 90 years old. With age-related difficulties, he put out an ad for help with his garden work. Dr. Fast, a friend and retired dentist, responded by spending many hours and days helping John. During this time together, John accepted a publication from our website, Freemasonry On Trial. Two weeks later, John renounced Freemasonry and burned all his Masonic regalia. At his next Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship meeting, he said, “I never knew I was in bondage until I was set free from bondage.” Two years later, he said: “The past two years have been the best years of my life.” Not long afterward, John went home into God’s presence. Many years ago, when John spoke of this bondage he didn’t know he had been under, I instantly knew the same truth from my own bondage. Over the years since then, I’ve noted this as being a common recurring theme when Masons are set free from their own bondage.
Missions Fest is an annual two to three-day Christian outreach held in various cities in Canada, the United States, and other nations. It includes speakers, seminars, and exhibitors. During sixteen years, I was an exhibitor at Missions Fest Vancouver, including three years at Missions Fest Toronto. The booth display was titled: Freemasonry: A Deadly Deception. About eight years ago, in Vancouver, a teenage girl walked up to the display banners and read some of the text on them. She was distressed, almost in tears. She told me her family were Christians involved in the church. She was asking me what was wrong with Freemasonry. She told me, as Christians, her father was a Mason, and she was in the Job’s Daughter, an organization for teenage girls under the Women’s Order of the Eastern Star. In conversation, I confirmed their Christian status but gently showed her some of the issues involving her father’s membership. I gave her handouts to take home. The following year, a happy, vibrant teenage girl walked by. I recognized her face, though I couldn’t remember the context until she said she was out of Job’s Daughters and her father was out of Freemasonry. Seeing people set free is the greatest motivation for all of us, exposing darkness.
During my time as an exhibitor with Missions Fest, I noted an issue that often came up over the years. This issue was usually related to Freemasonry, but it could also apply to other areas of people’s lives where bondage was involved. On these occasions, people would talk about various bondages they had been set free from and how that bondage had returned over a period of time. Sometimes, after being set free, some individuals may find themselves returning to the very things that once caused their bondage. I began to notice, however, issues of bondage in which this was not the in case. I would say to them, “Is it possible that you are walking in total freedom, having been set free, but you’re believing a lie that you lost your freedom?” Invariably, I’d be asked what I meant by this. I’d explain that when we’re set free from bondage, we become more effective for the Gospel. In response, the powers of darkness will come with lies, trying to convince us that we lost our freedom. After believing small lies, we’ve been set up to believe bigger and more deceptive lies. Over time, as we believe this succession of lies with its condemnation, we end up walking in past bondage that’s no longer there. When these lies are exposed, the sense of defeat shifts back to freedom in Jesus and who we truly are in Him. It’s very much the same when the lies of Freemasonry are exposed, bringing freedom from bondage and life in Jesus.
For those looking for more information about issues involving Freemasonry, we offer resources under Ministry Resources after Part Three in Freemasonry On Trial. On the ARTICLES page, there are additional resources under Spiritual Freedom Resources. Within the community, several churches have become equipped to deal with a range of issues. Some offer Freedom Sessions. In looking for resources, I also recommend Neil Anderson, Freedom In Christ.
